The Challenge
01What needed solving
PCOS affects a large number of women, but many go undiagnosed for years. Symptoms like irregular cycles, weight changes, acne and mood swings are spread across daily life, and most period-tracking apps don’t connect them to PCOS. The client wanted a single app where women could log cycles, symptoms and lifestyle habits, see patterns over time, and get an early indication of PCOS risk to discuss with a doctor.
Our Approach
02How we planned it
We designed a calm, premium mobile experience with a pink-and-dark theme and one-tap logging from the home screen, so daily tracking takes seconds. On the backend, we trained and compared two machine learning models on a public clinical PCOS dataset and selected the best performer. Insights are generated automatically as users log data, and the assessment output includes plain-language recommendations alongside a clear suggestion to consult a specialist.

03What we built
Pcosara lets users track their periods and flow intensity, with automatic cycle length and regularity scoring. Daily lifestyle logging covers 10+ PCOS-specific symptoms with severity levels, mood, exercise, meals with calories, and medication with reminders. An insights dashboard turns this data into charts showing symptom trends, mood distribution and cycle analysis. The ML-powered PCOS risk assessment gives users a risk score, the key contributing factors and personalised recommendations, and keeps a history of past assessments. Users can also generate a health report, write in a private journal, and connect with others in a community space. The app includes a calendar view, notifications, full dark mode and secure JWT-based authentication.
The Outcome
04The results delivered
Delivered a working cross-platform app with a Django REST backend. The selected Logistic Regression model reached 83.89% cross-validation accuracy (Random Forest: 82.04%), trained on 540+ samples with 13 clinical features.
