Multi-Tenant SaaS Starter Kit
An internal R&D build demonstrating our multi-tenant SaaS architecture — tenant isolation, role-based access, and subscription billing on Django and React.
The challenge
We wanted a reusable, production-grade reference architecture for multi-tenant SaaS products — one that handles tenant data isolation, role-based permissions, and subscription billing correctly from the first line of code, instead of retrofitting these concerns onto a single-tenant app later.
Our approach
We designed a schema-per-tenant data model on PostgreSQL with Django, built a role-based permission layer (admin, staff, member), and integrated subscription billing with webhook-driven plan changes. The frontend is a React dashboard consuming a versioned REST API.
The solution
The result is a working multi-tenant SaaS foundation: tenant signup and onboarding, per-tenant user management, subscription plans with upgrade/downgrade handling, and an admin view for managing tenants. This forms the architectural base we adapt for client SaaS projects.
The outcome
As an internal reference build, success is measured by reusability: the architecture has since been adapted as the starting point for client SaaS engagements in this service family, cutting initial setup time significantly compared to building multi-tenancy from scratch each time.
